As food and culture are intrinsically linked, food has always played a major role in Sudanese culture. Food habits, traditions, and practices have been passed on from one generation to another in Sudanese societies, but due to numerous factors such as conflict, displacement, and change in environmental conditions, some traditional foods are facing extinction.
Read MoreThrough this project, we intend to document traditional Sudanese recipes, dishes, ingredients, and preparation methods in seven different states. The targeted regions include Blue Nile State, Central, East, North, South and West Darfur, and South Kurdufan. Our goal is to preserve these valuable treasures and make them available to the next generations by creating a recipe book, an online register with all of the recipes, in addition to documentary videos.
This project was launched in 2018 in partnership with the British Council, under the Cultural Protection Fund.
